Common Questions
Everything you need to know about walking the Slieve Bloom Mountains at your own pace
Absolutely. Every trail we offer has been walked and tested by people in our target age group. We focus on steady, manageable terrain with regular rest spots and stunning views. You'll be walking with others who are at the same fitness level, so there's no pressure to keep up with younger hikers.
Most guided walks are 90 minutes to 2 hours of actual walking time, spread across 3 to 3.5 hours including breaks. We stop regularly to rest, enjoy the views, and chat about the local wildlife and history. There's no rush—we're here to enjoy ourselves, not race to the summit.
Wear layers—the Slieve Blooms can be cool even in summer, and weather changes quickly. Comfortable walking shoes with good grip are essential. Bring a light backpack with water (at least 1 litre), a snack, and a waterproof jacket. We've got a detailed gear guide on the site if you want more specifics.
Yes, we've got people at all fitness levels. If you're worried, start with one of our shorter, flatter trails to build confidence. Most folks find they settle into a rhythm pretty quickly, and the gentle pace makes a real difference. Drop us a message before you book if you'd like to chat about which walk would suit you best.
We check the forecast and occasionally reschedule walks if conditions are unsafe. Drizzle and cool weather are fine—we're Irish, after all—but heavy rain or strong wind means we'll suggest an alternative date or offer a full refund.
Yes, we keep group sizes small (usually 6–10 people) so you get a proper experience and plenty of attention from the guide. Booking helps us plan transport, plan routes, and make sure we've got the right group dynamic. You can book online or give us a ring if you prefer to chat first.
